Welcome to the FHCT Press Page. To keep things as simple as possible we have placed all of our Press related materials (press releases, pictures, etc.) on a single page without any sub-navigation. For this reason, this page may be rather long. At this time we are assuming that press releases will be cut and pasted and Web quality pictures will be "right click - save picture as". Press Quality versions of the pictures will be available below the Web quality pictures as a link or "right click - save target as...". Press Releases are listed most recent first. This page is designed for your convenience, so if you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to contact us by email at todd@fhct.org or call us direct at 480-837-9661. Thank you for your coverage of our theater.

“Seussical Jr.” In this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza, Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, and Ragtime) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Who’s.

2010-11 ariZoni Winners

For Immediate Release
9-22-2011
Fountain Hills Theater

Every year the ariZoni Theater Awards of Excellence ceremony is held to honor local contracted and non-contracted production companies and the huge number of talented actors, directors, choreographers, music directors, set, lighting, prop and sound designers and costumers. Each theater’s productions are attended by five to seven judges and then their votes are tallied by an independent accounting firm. Nominees are notified in August and the winners are announced at a gala event in September. This year’s event was held at the beautiful Tempe Center for the Arts on Monday, September 19th.

Over 140 productions and 43 theater companies were represented and Fountain Hills Theater was very proud to have 12 nominations for its Mainstage and 26 for its Youth Theater – 38 nominations! The big winner for the Mainstage was for best overall production for The Producers. This category recognizes that a show is outstanding in every area, both in the performance and production aspects of the show. The Producers was one of the biggest successes in FHT’s twenty-five year history – so much so that after selling out in January, it was brought back in June – and again sold out! The cast was thrilled to be invited to be part of the evening’s entertainment and put on a rousing performance of Along Came Bialy. The Youth Theater was honored with six wins. A Carol for Tiny Tim raked in several awards; Best Director for Youth Artistic Director Ross Collins, Best Supporting Actor for Alexander Blilie and Guest Actor awards for Linda Ferington and Chuck Disney. Other wins included; Patrick Moyse for Best Supporting Actor in The Tortoise and the Hare and Other Tall Tale and Danie Beamish for Best Set Design for Winnie the Pooh. FHT was truly honored to be recognized given the tremendous talent and number of excellent productions in the Valley and thankful to all the talented performers, directors, designers and volunteers who make it all happen – and to the loyal patrons who continue to support their efforts through the years.
